The MDT CRBN Hunter Kit was built for the person who wants a real precision platform without hauling a heavy chassis up the mountain. This version is cut for the Tikka T3x short action right hand and wears MDT's Clearcoat Carbon Fiber finish, so you get that raw woven carbon look under a protective coat. The shell is foam-filled carbon fiber, which keeps the whole thing light while soaking up harmonic vibration for that dead-in-the-hands feel a lot of folks chase for spotting their own trace.
Inside the carbon shell is a magnesium micro-chassis with V-block bedding. That tapered V-shaped insert locks your action into a repeatable position and keeps things from shifting under recoil, which is the whole reason a chassis outshoots a lot of factory stocks. Install is refreshingly simple: drop your action and bottom metal in, snug two screws, and you are set. No bedding compound, no waiting on a smith, though you can glass bed it if you really want to.
Ergonomics are where this one earns its keep on long days. You get an adjustable comb via a cheek riser, length of pull tuning through interchangeable spacers, an integrated thumb shelf, and front and rear QD cups for a sling. Underneath sits a full-length integrated ARCA rail plus three M-LOK slots on the forend, so bipods, tripods, and barricade gear all bolt right up. The forend is wide and stiff, which helps with follow-up shots and building a stable position off a bag or tripod.
This is the complete Hunter Kit, meaning the lightweight anti-snag Hunting bottom metal comes in the box. That bottom metal runs AICS-pattern magazines and features a magazine lock toggle so you don't dump a mag while crawling through brush. Built out, the setup lands right around 30 ounces, which is why it keeps showing up on NRL Hunter rifles and lightweight mountain builds alike.
This model is inlet for the Tikka T3 and T3x short action in right hand configuration. It drops in by fitting your barreled action and the included bottom metal, then tightening two screws. Keep in mind MDT recommends a Proof Sendero barrel profile or slimmer to clear the forend.
The Hunter Kit includes MDT's lightweight Hunting bottom metal, which has a slim anti-snag profile and a magazine lock toggle to prevent accidental drops. It runs AICS-pattern magazines, but a magazine itself is not part of the kit, so grab the capacity and cartridge length you need separately.
Built out with the included Hunting bottom metal, the platform comes in right around 30 ounces. That figure accounts for the recoil pad, recoil lug, and flush cups, which is a big part of why it is popular for backcountry and NRL Hunter style builds.
CCF stands for Clearcoat Carbon Fiber, which is the finish on this version. You get the exposed woven carbon fiber look sealed under a clear protective coat rather than a painted or two-tone color scheme.
