This one was designed as a suppressed system from day one, with a shorter, larger-diameter DSX suppressor built around M-Kore technology and tuned specifically for the PDX platform. The result is a 5.56 NATO SBR that measures just 23.75 inches overall with the can in place, and it stays hearing safe while running full-power ammunition.
Short-barreled 5.56 guns are famously gassy when suppressed, but Maxim addressed that at the engineering level instead of leaving you to chase buffer weights and adjustable gas blocks. The suppressor is purpose-built for the 5.5 inch barrel with no length restrictions, it manages gas blowback and cyclic rate as part of the overall system, and the components are user serviceable with integrated carbon cutters that make cleanup far less of a chore than most sealed cans. The Hatebrake muzzle booster design also helps push gas and concussion downrange instead of back into your face.
The PDX platform came out of the SOCOM PDW solicitation, and it shows. The patented SCW stock collapses the rear of the gun down to a fraction of a standard buffer setup, the M-LOK handguard gives you real estate for a light and hand stop, and the internals are built from military-grade materials throughout. The Olive Drab Green Cerakote finish looks sharp and adds legitimate corrosion resistance for hard use.
