The Magpul PRS Gen3 is the stock precision folks reach for when they want a rock-solid rear support without messing around with tools at the bench or in the field. It fits AR-15/M16 and AR-10/SR25 rifles, and the machined aluminum knobs let you dial in length of pull and comb height on the fly. Every adjustment clicks into positive locking detents, so your settings stay put shot after shot. This one comes in stealth gray, which reads a touch darker in person than some photos suggest, and it looks right at home on a dedicated long-range build.
The tool-free adjustments are the heart of this stock. You get roughly 1.4 inches of length-of-pull range and about 0.8 inches of cheek piece travel, which is plenty to line your eye up perfectly behind a scope no matter how you're set up. The rubber butt-pad adjusts for both height and cant, so once you find your groove, the whole rig conforms to how you naturally shoulder the rifle. That kind of repeatability is what separates a good precision setup from a frustrating one.
Magpul didn't cut corners here. The aluminum parts wear a Mil-Spec Type 3 Class II hard anodized finish, and the steel adjustment shafts are treated with Melonite to fend off wear and corrosion. The reinforced butt-plate is rated to handle recoil all the way up to .50 BMG, so it shrugs off hard-recoiling loads and the occasional knock. It's on the heavier side at around 27.8 ounces, but that weight works in your favor by soaking up recoil and keeping the rifle planted.
This stock is optimized for rifle-length receiver extensions and will also mount to most mil-spec carbine and A5-length tubes. The underside carries M-LOK slots, so you can add a rear monopod, an extra QD sling socket, or a short section of Picatinny rail for whatever your setup calls for. Rotation-limiting QD sling cups are already built in, giving you clean sling attachment points right out of the gate. Made in the USA.
It's optimized for a standard rifle-length receiver extension without an A2 spacer. It'll also mount to most mil-spec carbine and A5-length tubes with standard castle nuts and end plates. For the best fit and function, a rifle-length tube is the way to go. Note that the buffer tube and hardware are not included.
Yes. The PRS Gen3 is designed for AR-15/M16 and AR-10/SR25 (DPMS-pattern) platforms. The compatibility comes down to the receiver extension, not the caliber, so as long as your tube matches you're good on either platform.
You can. The bottom of the PRS Gen3 has M-LOK slots that accept a rear monopod, an additional QD sling socket, or a short 1913 Picatinny rail. That makes it easy to add rear support for prone and bench precision work.
It's a substantial stock at around 27.8 ounces, and that's by design. The weight adds rearward mass that helps tame recoil and keep the rifle steady behind glass. For a precision or bench-oriented build that heft is a benefit, though it's more than a lightweight carbine setup would want.
