The Magpul MOE TR Carbine Stock takes the familiar MOE formula and adds a genuinely clever twist. Instead of the usual spring-loaded lever you have to fight against, this one uses an ambidextrous, textured trigger release slider that pulls double duty. It adjusts your length of pull with one hand and, paired with the takedown lever underneath, lets you slide the whole stock on and off a Mil-Spec buffer tube without grabbing a single tool. It fits standard Mil-Spec sized carbine receiver extensions from the usual names like Colt, LMT, Ruger, S&W, and SIG, though the tube itself is not included.
The headline here is weight. At right around eight ounces, this is one of the lightest stocks in the Magpul lineup, which makes a real difference on a fast-handling carbine build where you notice every ounce out at the muzzle end. The A-frame profile is slim and streamlined, so it rides your shoulder cleanly and stays out of the way. There's an anti-slip rubber butt-pad with a rollover toe that soaks up a little recoil and helps the stock glide into your shoulder during quick transitions.
The takedown lever sits partially recessed on the bottom of the stock, so it won't snag on gear, and a small padlock icon shows you at a glance whether it's locked or unlocked. Once that lever is locked, the stock stays put on the receiver extension and won't come off by accident, even while you're changing your LOP. Like most MOE-class stocks, it's built for practical, general-purpose use rather than a benchrest-tight lockup. If you want a completely rattle-free fit, a wrap of tape or a shim on the buffer tube is the tried-and-true trick, or you can step up to a CTR-style stock.
For slings, the TR carries ambidextrous M-LOK slots on each side of the rear of the stock. Those work as a footman's loop for a direct attachment or accept optional M-LOK QD sling mounts if you'd rather run push-button swivels. It also plays nice with Magpul ASAP and ASAP QD receiver end plates and other receiver-mount sling attachments, so your single-point setup won't interfere. Made in the USA and finished in Flat Dark Earth, it's a smart, no-nonsense upgrade for a lightweight AR-15 carbine.
It's built for Mil-Spec sized carbine receiver extension tubes, which covers most common AR-15 builds from makers like Colt, LMT, Ruger, S&W, and SIG. Keep in mind the buffer tube itself is not included, so you'll need a Mil-Spec tube already on your rifle. It won't fit commercial-spec tubes, so double-check what you're running before ordering.
No tools required. The takedown lever on the bottom retracts the trigger release so the stock slides right onto the receiver extension, then locks in place. A padlock icon near the lever tells you at a glance whether it's locked or unlocked.
Like most MOE-class stocks, it's designed for practical use rather than a locked-down, zero-play fit, so a slight bit of movement can be normal depending on your tube. If it bugs you, a common fix is a strip or two of tape or a thin shim on the buffer tube to snug it up. For a tighter lockup out of the box, a CTR-style stock is the usual step up.
