The Magpul MOE RL is a fresh take on the stock that's been anchoring AR-15 builds for years. RL stands for Reversed Lever, and that little change is the whole story here. Instead of reaching under the rear of the stock to adjust length of pull, the lever sits inset into the front of the A-frame. That means you can slide it in or out while the gun is shouldered and keep your face right where it belongs. If you've ever fumbled for a stock lever with gloves on or lost your sight picture mid-adjustment, you already know why this matters.
Built on a streamlined A-frame profile, it swaps right onto any mil-spec carbine receiver extension tube from the usual suspects like Colt, LMT, Ruger, S&W, and SIG. Length of pull runs from roughly 10.7 inches collapsed out to about 14 inches fully extended, giving you plenty of room to dial in fit for body armor, heavy jackets, or just a comfortable summer setup. At around 8 ounces it stays light and doesn't throw off the balance of a nimble carbine.
The payoff is staying locked into the gun. Adjusting on the fly without lifting your head keeps you on target and aware of what's around you, which is exactly what you want whether you're running drills at the range or setting up a home-defense build. Magpul also widened the cheek-weld area a touch compared to the older MOE, so you get a more consistent, comfortable contact point shot after shot.
Out back there's an ambidextrous M-LOK slot that works as a footman's loop for a direct sling run, or you can drop in an M-LOK QD Sling Mount for push-button swivels. It's also compatible with the MOE SL Enhanced Rubber Butt-Pad if you want a little extra grip on the shoulder or added recoil cushioning. This Flat Dark Earth version carries the same reinforced polymer construction Magpul is known for and is proudly made in the USA. It's a clean, no-nonsense upgrade that punches well above its price.
RL stands for Reversed Lever. Instead of the adjustment lever sitting at the rear underside of the stock, it's inset into the front of the A-frame. This lets you change your length of pull while the rifle is shouldered without breaking cheek weld or losing your sight picture.
It fits any mil-spec sized carbine receiver extension tube, which covers the vast majority of AR-15 and M4 platforms from makers like Colt, LMT, Ruger, S&W, and SIG. Keep in mind the receiver extension tube is not included, so you'll want to confirm yours is mil-spec rather than commercial diameter. If you already have a standard mil-spec buffer tube, this is a straightforward drop-in swap.
There's an ambidextrous M-LOK slot at the rear that doubles as a footman's loop, so you can run a sling directly through it. If you prefer a quick-detach setup, you can add an M-LOK QD Sling Mount, which is sold separately. That gives you flexibility for either a fixed or push-button swivel configuration.
Yes, the MOE RL is compatible with the Magpul MOE SL Enhanced Rubber Butt-Pad if you want a bit more shoulder grip and recoil cushioning. The stock already comes with a slightly wider cheek-weld area than the older MOE for a more comfortable, repeatable contact point. Both the butt-pad and any additional accessories are purchased separately.
