The Magpul MIAD Gen 1.1 Type 1 is a drop-in pistol grip for AR-15/M4 rifles that lets you build a grip around your hand instead of forcing your hand around a grip. Where most grips ship as one fixed shape, this one comes as a full kit with interchangeable front and rear straps, so you can go thinner, thicker, add a finger groove or leave it smooth until the fit feels right. It runs the familiar 25-degree A2-style angle AR owners already know, and the aggressive texture on the sides and backstrap gives you a solid, no-slip hold whether your hands are dry, sweaty, or gloved up.
The kit includes three backstraps in small, medium, and large, along with beavertail and no-beavertail options, plus two frontstraps in A1 and A2 profiles. That mix covers small hands to large, short trigger reach to long, and a raised finger ridge or a clean flat face. Everything swaps out with the single included dual-drive mounting screw, so tuning the fit takes a couple of minutes at the bench with no glue or extra tools to hunt down.
The grip ships with the MIAD/MOE lube bottle core and a reusable 1/2 oz bottle, giving you a spot to stash oil right in the grip for range trips or longer outings. If your needs change, the MIAD accepts other Magpul storage cores sold separately, including options set up for AA, AAA, or CR123A batteries and even a spare bolt or firing pin.

The Type 1 kit is optimized for AR15/M4 pattern rifles and works on many AR10-pattern receivers as well, fitting most 5.56×45 and 7.62×51 AR lowers. On some larger 7.62 receivers you may notice a small gap between the beavertail and the receiver, which is purely cosmetic and does not affect how the grip functions. If you run a specific .308 platform like a KAC SR25, DPMS LR308, or LMT MWS, the taller-backstrap Type 2 kit is the one built for those.
