The Magpul M-LOK AFG takes the angled fore grip concept that's been a staple on AR builds for years and adapts it to mount straight onto M-LOK rails, no adapter needed. Instead of hanging below the handguard like a vertical grip, it angles your support hand up and forward so your wrist stays in a more natural line with your forearm. That shift in hand position does more than just look good on a build, the angled geometry positions the support hand forward and high on the handguard with the wrist in a more natural, less pronated position, which reduces the lever arm effect that causes muzzle rise while firing.
A lot of people go back and forth between running a vertical grip or leaving the rail slick, and the AFG splits the difference. It gives your hand a real reference point without the bulk of a VFG hanging off the bottom of the rifle. By positioning the support hand high on the bore axis instead of underneath it like most vertical grips do, it helps you drive the muzzle rather than just hang onto it, which means quicker transitions between targets and less strain on your arm during a long range day.
This version skips the separate rail adapter and mounts straight to M-LOK slots on aluminum or polymer handguards, so setup only takes a couple of screws and a few minutes at the bench. This lightweight grip weighs just 1.2 ounces and utilizes a direct-attach M-LOK mounting system for maximum versatility on both aluminum and polymer handguards. It's also built shorter than the older AFG-2, giving you back some rail space for lights, slings, or whatever else you're running up front.
This one comes in Magpul's newer Modified Coyote Brown finish, a color developed to meet US Army specification and rolled out across PMAGs, grips, stocks, and other M-LOK accessories. If you're already running MCB furniture on your rifle, this grip will match right up instead of sticking out as an odd shade of brown in the mix.
It's built to mount directly on both aluminum and polymer M-LOK handguards, so you're not locked into one type of rail. There's no separate rail adapter needed like on the older Picatinny version. Just line it up with an M-LOK slot and secure it with the included hardware.
It comes in at just 1.2 ounces including all the mounting hardware, so it adds almost no weight to your rifle. That's part of the appeal over a bulkier vertical grip.
The AFG-2 mounts to Picatinny rails and needs a bit more rail space, while this M-LOK version attaches directly to M-LOK slots and runs about 3/4 inch shorter. Functionally they give you the same angled grip and hand positioning, this one is just built specifically for M-LOK handguards.
Modified Coyote Brown is Magpul's newer color developed to meet US Army specification and it's already available across PMAGs, grips, stocks, and other M-LOK accessories. If your build already has MCB furniture on it, this grip will blend in rather than looking out of place.
