The stock USGI dust cover has to be one of the most aggravating little parts on the whole AR platform. It's held on by a torsion spring, an e-clip, and a roll pin, which means the classic way to swap one out involves pulling your handguard, breaking the barrel nut loose, and hunting for parts that ping off the bench and vanish under your workbench. Magpul's Enhanced Ejection Port Cover throws all of that out the window. It snaps directly into the upper receiver's existing pin channel, so the whole job is genuinely tool-free and wraps up in about half a minute.
Instead of stamped steel, this one is built from impact-resistant injection-molded polymer. That matters more than it sounds. The old metal doors are soft, they corrode, and they tend to sag or pop open after a few thousand rounds as spring tension fades. This polymer version holds its tension over the long haul, won't rust, and won't bend or deform if your rifle takes a spill. It latches shut firmly and pops open cleanly when the bolt cycles, which is really all you want a dust cover to do.

This is a common hiccup and an easy fix. Install the cover in the closed position rather than open, which seats the spring-loaded tab correctly and lets it snap open when the bolt cycles. Putting it on open can set the tab wrong, so start closed and it'll work as intended.
