If your rifle wears a traditional sling swivel stud on the forend, this is one of the slickest ways to add a stable front rest without switching to a rail system. The Magpul Bipod Sling Stud QD builds on Magpul's proven bipod line and brings modern adjustability to bolt guns and sporting rifles that were never set up for M-LOK or Picatinny mounts.
What makes it stand out is the mounting system. The stainless-steel interface self-locates and lines up right every time, and the ergonomic thumb wheel gives you plenty of grip to snug it down by hand. Magpul includes two sizes of non-marring, high-durometer rubber gaskets so you get a solid, load-spreading fit on both slim sporter-contour forends and wider target-style stocks. And because it uses a quick-detach design, it comes on and off in seconds with no tools when you want to travel light.
Out in the field is where this bipod earns its keep. The spring-tensioned legs stow forward and snap down to lock with one hand, then extend from 6.3 to 10.3 inches across seven half-inch detents so you can dial in your height on uneven ground. A glove-friendly knurled knob controls a full 50 degrees of tilt, letting you level the rifle on a slope without fussing between shots. Staggered soft rubber feet grip a range of surfaces and can be swapped out, since the legs accept most Atlas-pattern replacement feet.
Magpul went with Mil-Spec hard anodized 6061 T-6 aluminum, stainless steel internals, and injection-molded reinforced polymer, so it holds up to hard use while tipping the scale at just over 13 ounces. The low-profile housing hides the internal hardware and shrugs off snags and bumps, and folded down it tucks in at roughly 2.3 inches deep and 3.3 inches wide. One nice touch: the rear of the mount keeps a low-profile sling stud, so you don't lose your sling attachment point when the bipod is installed.
It mounts to the standard Uncle Mike's sling swivel stud found on the forend of most bolt-action and sporting rifles. If your stock already has a front sling stud, you're in business. The two included rubber gaskets cover both narrow sporter forends and wider target-style stocks for a snug, non-marring fit.
