Anyone who has spent range time behind an AR-15 knows the bolt catch is one of the more awkwardly placed controls on the whole rifle. The Magpul B.A.D. Lever fixes that with a simple extended paddle that wraps around to the right side of the receiver, letting you drop the bolt or lock it back with your trigger finger while your hands stay right where they belong. It came out of the real-world work done by the Magpul Dynamics team, so this is a solution built around how people run their rifles under pressure, not just a bench idea.
The whole point here is speed and keeping your grip. Instead of shifting your support hand up or rolling the rifle to hit the bolt release, you reach the paddle with the trigger finger inside the guard. That shaves real time off reloads and makes clearing a malfunction a lot smoother. It works for both right and left-handed folks, and it doesn't take away the standard bolt catch function, so you can still run the rifle the traditional way whenever you want.
This is machined from durable 6061-T6 billet aluminum and finished with mil-spec Type III hard anodizing, so it holds up to hard use and weather without complaint. The profile is intentionally thin with a textured surface, which keeps it from snagging on gear while still giving you a positive purchase. It attaches to the existing bolt catch paddle with a single Torx screw that carries a Nyloc blue patch to keep it from backing out under recoil, and the Torx wrench is included in the package.
Installation is about as painless as it gets. It clamps onto your standard mil-spec forged AR-15/M16 bolt catch with a backplate and screw, no permanent modification to the rifle.
