The Magpul ASAP gives you a sling attachment point that actually works for both shoulders. Unlike standard end plates that force your sling to bind or tangle when you switch sides, this one lets you transition smoothly without any of that mess. It's cast from precision steel and finished with a mil-spec black manganese phosphate coating that stands up to hard use.
The range of motion is what sets it apart. You get more than 180 degrees of rotation with that welded link ring, so your sling hangs naturally whether you're running it strong-side or switching to your support shoulder. No binding, no snagging, no wrestling with your gear when you need to move fast. The design is simple and bulletproof—it's proven in the field, tested to support over 300 pounds of stress, and it won't let you down.
Installing this replaces your factory receiver end plate directly. It works with both mil-spec and commercial buffer tubes, so it fits pretty much any AR-15 or M4 setup with a collapsible stock. Just swap out the old plate and you're good to go. The ASAP is made in the USA and comes with alignment keys for both mil-spec and commercial tubes. Note that it doesn't work with fixed stocks like the A1/A2 or similarly mounted options like the Magpul PRS and UBR.
This plate accepts snap-hook style attachments—HK hooks, MASH hooks, or the Magpul Paraclip all work perfectly. That welded ring is stout enough that even with years of use and hard drills, it stays true. The low-profile design means your sling won't catch or snag on gear, and the way it wraps around your lower receiver adds real strength to the whole assembly.
It's designed for collapsible M4-type stocks only. Fixed stocks like the A1/A2 won't work, and it's also not compatible with similarly mounted options like the Magpul PRS, UBR, and MOE Rifle Stocks. If you have a collapsible stock setup, you're good to go.
Any single-point sling with snap-hook style attachments. This includes HK hooks, MASH hooks, and the Magpul Paraclip. It's designed specifically for these types of connections, so compatibility is straightforward.
If you've got basic armorer tools and know how to work a castle nut, it's a straightforward swap. You remove your factory end plate, install this one in its place, and stake the castle nut properly. Most people finish it in less than 15 minutes. Just take your time with the alignment key and make sure the castle nut is torqued correctly.
The welded link ring does produce some noise when there's no sling attached to keep tension on it. Once your sling is attached and under weight, the noise basically goes away. Some users add electrical tape or a light rubber coating to the ring if they want to eliminate it completely without a sling attached, but under normal use this isn't an issue.
