This is the genuine FN factory magazine, part number 20-100376, built to the exact tolerances your pistol was designed around. It drops free cleanly, locks up right, and feeds reliably because it's made by the same people who made the gun.
The body is steel with a flat black finish, keeping the profile low and the durability high. Inside, a high-visibility anti-tilt polymer follower keeps rounds feeding at the correct angle round after round, and the steel internal spring is built for consistent tension over a long service life. Ambidextrous numbered witness holes run down both sides so you can get a quick round count without having to think about it.
The extended polymer floorplate doubles as a pinky extension, which is a real-world benefit on a compact pistol. It gives your bottom finger something to wrap around instead of curling under the grip, and that makes a noticeable difference in control during rapid fire or a fast reload. The floorplate is textured to match the feel of the frame and is removable for cleaning.
One thing worth noting: this magazine is specific to the FN 509 Compact. It will not work in the FNS or FNX series pistols, so make sure you are picking up the right mag for your platform. The 509C shares its magazine footprint with other 509-family pistols, so if you ever want to run a 15 or 17-round mag in your Compact, those full-size 509 mags will also fit.

This magazine is made specifically for the FN 509 Compact (509C) and is not compatible with the FNS or FNX series pistols. It was designed around the Compact's grip dimensions. That said, the 509C can accept larger-capacity magazines from the full-size 509 family, such as the 15 and 17-round versions, if you want more rounds at the range.
The extended floorplate gives your pinky finger a place to grip on a compact-sized pistol, which would otherwise leave it hanging below the frame. This meaningfully improves your purchase on the gun, especially during recoil or a fast reload. It is textured polymer and can be removed for cleaning.
This is a 100% factory OEM magazine made by FN America, part number 20-100376. It is built to the same specifications as the magazine that ships with the pistol, so fit, function, and feed reliability should be identical to your original mag.
The witness holes are numbered and run down both sides of the magazine body, so both right- and left-handed users can check round count with a quick glance. The high-visibility follower contrasts against the rounds, making it easy to see at a glance how many are left without counting.
Plenty of 509C owners use the 12-round magazine as their carry mag specifically because it keeps the grip profile as compact and concealable as possible. The pinky extension on the floorplate still gives a full grip, making it a practical balance between concealability and capacity for daily carry.
