When you mount this magazine in a full-size grip module, that extra sleeve fills the gap created by the extended length, giving you a more natural, full grip that improves recoil control and faster follow-up shots. Without the sleeve, you have a standard base plate for a flush fit when needed.
The rear witness holes are drilled and numbered in five-round increments, so you can count remaining rounds at a glance without dumping the magazine. The 30-round extended magazine will physically fit all P320 models, but the removable comfort sleeve is designed specifically for full-size grip modules. With compact or smaller grip modules, there will be a noticeable gap where the magazine extends beyond the frame. For shorter configurations, you might want a 21-round or 17-round option instead.
The main difference is capacity and length. This 30-round version holds 13 more rounds than the 21-round standard extended magazine, giving you significantly longer shooting sessions between reloads. Both use the same steel construction and spring design, but the 30-rounder extends further and includes the removable comfort sleeve for better grip support in full-size models.
Factory P320 magazines come ready to run from the box. Some new 30-round magazines may feel stiffer when loading to full capacity due to the tighter spring, but this is normal and has no impact on reliability. The spring will naturally loosen slightly after a few uses. Once you fire through it a couple times, you'll notice loading becomes smoother.
The sleeve is removable but not required. If you remove it, you get a standard flush base plate for full-size models. The sleeve's main job is filling the gap between the extended magazine and full-size grip frame for a more complete hand position. Many people keep it on for comfort and recoil management, but some shooters prefer running without it for certain applications.
