This Ruger magazine is designed to function with many AI-style bottom metal assemblies, but fit can vary depending on the specific manufacturer. It definitely works with the Ruger Precision Rifle and Gunsite Scout Rifle. If you have aftermarket AI-pattern bottom metal from another maker, test it first or verify compatibility before relying on it for a hunt or competition.
Only if your Ruger American or American Predator is fitted with an AI-style bottom metal assembly and magazine well. Older Ruger American models use proprietary flush-fit magazines, so you'll need to confirm your rifle's magazine system. Newer American Predator variants in current production do accept AI-style magazines, but when in doubt, check your rifle's manual or contact Ruger directly.
Ten rounds is the designed capacity for this magazine with standard .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition. Trying to cram in additional rounds will compress the spring and cause feeding problems. Stick with the 10-round design as intended for reliable performance.
The magazine has a removable polymer baseplate that lets you take it apart easily for cleaning. Just pull off the dust cover, remove the baseplate, and you can wipe down the spring and interior. Reassemble and you're good to go. Keep the dust cover on when the magazine is stored loaded or sitting in your bag to keep dust out of the feed lips.
