This is a factory Kimber magazine made specifically for compact 1911 9mm platforms. The laser-welded stainless steel tube and welded baseplate deliver durability that holds up to regular range use and carry. You get all-steel construction throughout, including the follower and high-tensile spring that work together to keep your rounds lined up properly and feeding smoothly.
The all-steel follower keeps your ammunition aligned so you get consistent feeding shot after shot. The stainless finish resists corrosion from sweat and range conditions, and the wide-cut witness holes on the side let you count your remaining rounds at a glance without unloading the magazine. At 8 rounds, it's the right capacity for compact carry or range work without bulk.
Kimber pre-drilled this magazine with holes in the baseplate so you can add aftermarket base pads if you want them. Many people add pads for better grip purchase when seating magazines under pressure, or for drop protection during hard use. The holes are ready to go when you need this upgrade.
These magazines fit Kimber Compact and Ultra 9mm models, and they're also compatible with Colt Officer's models. Note that they are not compatible with Ultra+ models. If you run a compatible gun and want factory Kimber quality, this is a straightforward replacement or backup.

The two pre-drilled holes are ready for you to install an aftermarket base pad using self-tapping screws. Base pads provide extra grip purchase when loading the magazine quickly, and they also protect the magazine baseplate if it gets dropped. Many shooters add them for carry or competition use, but they're optional.
The wide-cut witness holes on the side of the magazine let you see exactly how many rounds you have left without removing the magazine from your pistol or unloading it. This quick visual count is useful on the range or in training scenarios.
