The MAC 5K from Military Armament Corporation (imported by SDS Arms) is about as close to the real thing as you're going to get without dropping serious money on an HK SP5K. It's manufactured in Turkey by Mertsav on modern CNC tooling built to original HK specifications, and it shows in the fit, finish, and parts compatibility. The roller-delayed blowback action runs smooth, recoil is notably soft for a pistol-format gun, and the whole platform just feels right in your hands if you've ever spent any time with an MP5-pattern firearm.
The barrel is 5.8 inches of 4140 steel, button-rifled with a fluted chamber and chrome lining for durability and easy cleaning. It comes threaded 1/2×28 with a machined tri-lug suppressor mount, so the included flash hider swaps off quickly and your favorite 9mm can goes right to work. The SEF-pattern trigger housing wears the classic S-E-F markings (safe and semi only, obviously) and breaks at around 4.25 lbs with that familiar two-stage MP5 feel. Sights are a hooded, elevation-adjustable front post paired with an adjustable castle-style diopter rear. The receiver also has the standard HK clamp-on optics rail lugs for mounting a red dot.
The controls are pure MP5 DNA. The left-side charging handle slaps forward satisfyingly into battery, and the paddle magazine release works just as you'd expect. There's also a right-side button release if you prefer that over the paddle. The ambidextrous safety lever is true to the original layout, and the glass-filled reinforced polymer grip module is solid without being chunky. Both magazine release options are a nice touch for different hand sizes and shooting styles. The pistol does not lock open on the last round, so the classic HK reload is part of the experience here.
Magazines are HK-compatible, which means you're not limited to MAC-branded mags. The whole platform works with most HK and MP5-pattern aftermarket furniture, handguards, and accessories, so building this out exactly the way you want it is genuinely easy. It's the classic HK reload, and once you get used to it, it becomes second nature.
