Ask anyone who shoots off a bench regularly and they'll tell you the same thing: half the battle is getting your rest at the right height. Benches vary, chairs vary, and your rifle doesn't always line up where you want it. The Lyman Bag Jack solves that with a scissor-lift platform that raises your shooting bag or rest to wherever your eye and target want it to be.
The design is refreshingly simple. A single adjustment knob cranks the scissor mechanism up and down, giving you infinite elevation anywhere from 2 3/4 inches to 12 3/4 inches. No fixed steps or notches to fight with, so you can dial in the exact height and stop. When you're done, it collapses down flat for easy hauling in a range bag or gear box.
Lyman went with aluminum and steel for the frame, which keeps the weight reasonable at right around 7 pounds while giving you a stable base to work from. The top plate measures a full 10 by 10 inches, so it swallows up even large front rests and shooting bags with room to spare. Both the top and bottom carry a non-slip textured surface, which helps keep your bag planted and keeps the whole jack from creeping around on a smooth bench top.
This one shines as a height-setter for your front bag or pedestal rest, letting you fine-tune elevation without stacking books or shims under your gear. It works with rifles, and plenty of folks use it under handgun and shotgun bags too. If you're running a heavier benchrest setup, go easy on the crank and set your height before loading it down. For casual range days, load development, and sighting-in, it's a handy piece of kit that earns its spot on the bench.
The Bag Jack gives you infinite elevation adjustment from 2 3/4 inches up to 12 3/4 inches. You set the height with a single rotary knob, so you can land on any point in that range rather than fixed steps. That covers most bench and chair combinations you'll run into at the range.
Yes. The top plate measures a full 10 by 10 inches, which is sized to hold even large front rests and shooting bags. The non-slip textured surface also helps keep your bag from sliding around once it's loaded up.
The frame uses a combination of aluminum and steel components with steel feet on the base. That keeps it reasonably light for carrying while giving you a solid platform to build your rest on. Both the top and bottom surfaces are textured to reduce slipping.
It's built primarily as a rifle bag lift, but the flat 10×10 platform works fine under bags for handguns and shotguns as well. Anywhere you want to raise your rest to eye level, it does the job. Just set your height before loading it down for the steadiest results.
