Description

LWRC built its reputation on piston-driven ARs that keep running when direct impingement guns start choking on carbon, and the IC-MKII is the next chapter in that story. Descended from the carbine LWRC developed for the U.S. Army's Individual Carbine program, the MKII updates the well-loved IC-A5 with a longer M-LOK handguard, refined receiver machining borrowed from the REPR MKII, and the same self-regulating short-stroke gas piston system that vents hot, dirty gas under the handguard instead of dumping it into your receiver. The payoff is a cooler bolt carrier, less frequent cleaning, and softer felt recoil.

A Barrel That Earns Its Keep

This version wears LWRC's cold hammer forged 14.7 inch barrel with a pinned and welded muzzle device, giving you a handier package than a standard 16 inch setup without giving up much velocity. The signature spiral fluting cuts barrel weight by roughly 20 percent while adding surface area to shed heat faster during long range sessions, and the NiCorr treated bore is rated to outlast chrome lining. A 1:7 twist stabilizes everything from light varmint loads to heavy 77 grain match bullets, and the A5 two-position gas block lets you dial the system back when running a suppressor.

IC-MKII Controls Built for Either Hand

Everything on this lower works from both sides: bolt catch and release, magazine release, safety selector, plus an ambidextrous charging handle up top. Lefties get a rifle that fits them out of the box, and right-handed users pick up faster reloads and more flexible manipulation. The Monoforge one-piece upper with its integrated rail base is stiffer and stronger than a standard flattop, and the nickel boron coated bolt carrier adds slick, permanent lubricity along with serious wear resistance.

What You Get With the LWRC ICMKII

Out of the box you get LWRC Skirmish flip-up iron sights, the adjustable LWRC Compact stock, an Ultra grip with fish-scale texturing, an enlarged trigger guard, and a 30-round Magpul PMAG. At around 6.5 pounds, it carries easy and shoots easier. This is a duty-grade rifle for people who want to buy once and be done.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the advantage of the gas piston system on the LWRC IC-MKII?

Instead of routing hot gas back into the receiver like a standard direct impingement AR, the short-stroke piston vents it under the handguard. That keeps the bolt carrier group cooler and dramatically cleaner, which means less scrubbing between range trips and better reliability during high round count sessions. LWRC's system is also self-regulating, and the A5 two-position gas block lets you adjust for suppressed shooting.

Is the 14.7 inch barrel on the IC-MKII pinned and welded?

Yes, the muzzle device is permanently pinned and welded to the 14.7 inch barrel. You get a slightly shorter, quicker-handling rifle than a typical 16 inch carbine with minimal velocity loss. Keep in mind that swapping muzzle devices on a pinned barrel requires a gunsmith.

Is the LWRC IC-MKII a good fit for left-handed users?

It's one of the best factory options out there for lefties. The bolt catch and release, magazine release, and safety selector all work from both sides of the lower, and the charging handle is ambidextrous too. Nothing needs to be swapped or added, it runs the same from either shoulder right out of the box.

What bullet weights does the IC-MKII shoot best?

The cold hammer forged barrel uses a 1:7 twist, which is fast enough to stabilize heavy 69 to 77 grain match loads while still shooting common 55 and 62 grain ammo just fine. That makes it a flexible platform whether you're plinking with bulk ammo or loading up match-grade rounds. The NiCorr bore treatment also holds accuracy longer than traditional chrome lining.
