The Luth-AR AR-308 Lower Parts Kit Builder is built for folks who already have a favorite trigger and grip in mind. Instead of forcing you to pay for parts you'll toss in a drawer, this kit gives you everything else needed to bring a stripped .308 lower to life: buffer retainer and spring, bolt catch assembly, magazine catch, selector, takedown and pivot pins, plus all the little detents and springs that always seem to disappear into the carpet during a build. It's designed to fit AR-10 and .308/LR-308 pattern lowers.
The big difference here is what's left out on purpose. There's no fire control group and no pistol grip, which makes this the go-to choice when you're planning to drop in an aftermarket or two-stage trigger and run a grip that fits your hand. You get the foundation without doubling up on parts you'd only replace anyway.
Luth-AR builds these components in the United States, either investment cast or machined to Mil-Spec drawings, materials, and heat treat standards. The springs are made from 17-4 stainless and Mil-Spec steel wire, so the pieces that see the most cycling and stress hold up over the long haul. Everything is properly sized for the larger .308 platform, including the caliber-specific bolt catch, front pivot pin, and rear takedown pin that set an AR-10 apart from a standard AR-15 build.
If you're assembling a fresh .308 lower or refreshing an older one that's seen plenty of range time, this kit takes the guesswork out of sourcing all the small stuff separately. Match it up with your trigger and grip of choice and you're ready to finish the job.
No, and that's the whole idea behind the Builder version. It leaves out the fire control group and pistol grip so you can install your own trigger, whether that's a Mil-Spec setup or an upgraded drop-in or two-stage trigger. You do get the hammer and trigger pins to install the FCG once you pick one.
This kit is made for the larger .308 platform and fits AR-10 and LR-308 pattern lowers. Several of the parts, like the bolt catch, front pivot pin, and rear takedown pin, are sized specifically for .308 receivers and won't interchange with a standard AR-15. If you're building an AR-15, you'll want Luth-AR's AR-15 version instead.
