The Apollo 11 V2 Compact is Live Free Armory's carry-friendly take on the 2011 platform, now distributed through Century Arms for broader availability. Built in Palm Bay, Florida, it uses a 4140 chrome-moly steel frame and a heat-treated 416 stainless steel slide, both finished in Cerakote. The frame gets a black finish with copper accents on the slide, giving this version a sharp, distinctive look that stands out from the sea of all-black pistols. The steel frame incorporates an integrated beavertail grip safety and a 1913 Picatinny rail for weapon lights or lasers.
The V2 designation brings some meaningful upgrades over the original Apollo 11. The biggest one is a switch to an external extractor for more consistent ejection and feeding reliability. The 6061 aluminum V2 grip module replaces earlier polymer options and features updated aggressive texturing that gives you a confident hold without chewing up your hands. Deeper slide serrations front and rear make racking positive whether you're working a press-check or running a malfunction drill. The skeletonized trigger breaks between 3.5 and 4.5 lbs, which is a genuinely useful trigger weight for both range work and defensive use.
The 4.15" 416 stainless bull barrel gives you a compact overall package while maintaining solid accuracy potential. The slide comes with an RMSc footprint optic cut machined directly into it, so there's no adapter plate needed to mount most popular micro red dots. A tritium front night sight is already on board for low-light target acquisition even if you choose to run irons only. It's true 2011 architecture, meaning it uses a separate steel frame and grip module rather than simply widening a standard 1911 frame. The 6061 aluminum V2 grip module bolts to the steel chassis, which is how traditional 2011s are built. This gives you the classic single-action 1911 feel and manual of arms combined with double-stack magazine capacity.
The slide is machined with a direct RMSc footprint, which means no adapter plate is needed for RMSc-compatible optics. Popular options like the Shield RMSc, Holosun 507K, and similar micro red dots mount directly. Just confirm screw length compatibility before mounting, as fitment details can vary slightly between optic brands.
