This model pairs a 16.12 inch stainless steel barrel and receiver with a purple synthetic stock finished in black webbing, so it holds up to weather and rough handling while still looking like something a kid will be proud to call their own.
Everything about this rifle is built around learning. The single-shot design means one round at a time, every time, which keeps a new shooter focused on sight picture and trigger control instead of rushing follow-up shots. The action requires manual cocking before each shot, and a rebounding firing pin blocks the pin automatically to help prevent an unintentional discharge. The Gen2 upgrades matter too. The EZ Loader ramp guides rounds into the chamber, which solves the fumbling little fingers used to run into with the original, and the smooth polymer cocking knob is easier on small hands. Factory-installed swivel studs mean you can add a sling without any gunsmithing.
With an 11.5 inch length of pull and a weight right around 3 pounds, the Crickett fits kids the way a full-size rifle never will. The adjustable rear peep sight and fixed front post are a great setup for teaching iron sight fundamentals, and when your young shooter is ready to stretch things out, the receiver comes drilled and tapped for mounting a scope. The 1:16 twist barrel stabilizes standard .22 LR loads just fine for plinking cans and punching paper.

The Crickett is scaled for young beginners, with an 11.5 inch length of pull and a weight around 3 pounds. Most kids in the roughly 5 to 12 range fit it well, though it depends on the individual child's size. Smaller-framed adults also use them as lightweight pack rifles.
The Gen2 adds the EZ Loader, a ramp that guides rounds into the chamber and makes loading much easier for small hands. It also comes with a polymer cocking knob and sling swivel studs installed from the factory. First generation models lack the EZ Loader and studs.
Yes. The receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so you can add a base and a compact rimfire scope whenever your young shooter is ready to move past irons. Until then, the adjustable rear peep and fixed front post are a solid setup for learning sight alignment.
The Crickett uses a manually cocked action, meaning it will not fire until the cocking knob at the rear of the bolt is deliberately pulled back. On top of that, a rebounding firing pin is automatically blocked to help prevent an unintentional discharge. It is a design built specifically with new and young users in mind.
