This is the steel version of the OEM front flip-up sight that ships standard on the Kriss Vector and Defiance platforms, so you know it has already earned its keep in the real world. When folded, it sits just 0.50 inches (12.7mm) above the rail surface, which means it stays completely below the line of a red dot or LPVO and won't clutter up your sight picture. Flip it up and you get a clean, repeatable front reference backed by all-steel construction.
The standout here is the elevation adjustment range. This sight gives you a wide 50 MOA of travel, which is a big deal if you're running it across different setups with varying height-over-bore or sight radius numbers. Adjustments come in at 0.5 MOA per click referenced to a 14.5-inch sight radius, and the top of the post measures a fine 0.059 inches (1.5mm) for a precise aiming point. The large, textured adjustment knob is the kind of touch you appreciate in the field, letting you make elevation changes with gloved hands without fumbling.
The base clamps onto any MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail, so it drops onto AR-platform rifles and plenty of other Pic-railed hosts without drama. Kriss recommends torquing the mounting screw to no more than 2 Nm (about 17.7 in-lb), so snug it up to spec and it'll hold zero without stressing the hardware. At right around half an ounce, it adds practically nothing to your build.
Whether you're running it as a dedicated backup behind glass or as a primary iron up front, the steel build is the reason to reach for this one over a polymer folder. It's a compact, no-nonsense front sight from a company that puts these on its own guns.
Because it folds down to just 0.50 inches above the rail, it clears the sight picture of most red dots and low-power optics when stowed. It mounts to any MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail, which covers AR-15 platform rifles as well as the Kriss Vector and Defiance family it was originally designed for. If your handguard or gas block rail is standard Picatinny, this sight will clamp right on. Just make sure you have enough rail real estate at the front for proper sight radius.
This is the all-steel version, part number DA-FSBL00. Kriss also offers a polymer variant, but the steel build gives you extra durability and heft for hard use. If long-term ruggedness is your priority, the steel is the one to grab.
