Description

The Kopfjager K700 AMT gives you a full shooting position in a single package: a burly aluminum tripod paired with the pivoting Reaper Grip that clamps your rifle in place and lets you run the gun without babysitting it. This kit was dreamed up by a pair of Special Ops Dallas SWAT officers, and that background shows in how it handles field work, whether you're glassing a canyon for hours or breaking a long shot from an awkward angle.

What the K700 AMT Brings to the Field

The legs run on three-level extensions with quick locking levers, and combined with three-position angle locks you can drop it low for prone or crank it up for an off-hand standing shot. Rubber feet keep the footprint planted on rock, gravel, or a truck bed, and the reversible center column adds close to another 15 inches of height when you need to get your optic up over brush. Fully extended it stretches to roughly 72 inches and collapses down around 27 inches for the truck or pack. It'll carry up to 25 pounds, so a heavy chassis rifle or a big spotting scope is no problem.

Why the Reaper Grip Makes the Difference

A tripod alone gives you a platform, but the Reaper Grip is what turns this into a genuine shooting rest. The adjustable, pivoting clamp grabs both tapered and straight stocks and chassis, holding tight enough that recoil doesn't walk your point of aim around. You get a smooth 360-degree pan and a 109-degree tilt range (21 up, 87 down), so tracking a moving animal or following a target down into a draw stays fluid instead of choppy.

Built to Take Abuse

The sturdy aluminum construction and sure-grip foam panels stand up to hard use, and folks who've run cheaper tripods into the ground tend to notice how much smoother and tougher this one feels right out of the box. If you've been wanting stable, repeatable support outside of the prone position, this is the setup that gets you there.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of rifles will the Reaper Grip fit?

The Reaper Grip is built to clamp both tapered and straight stocks as well as chassis-style rifles, so it works with everything from a traditional hunting rifle to a precision chassis build. The grip pivots and locks down snug enough that recoil won't shift your rifle around between shots. If you're running a very slim forend, Kopfjager also offers add-on grip sleeves for a tighter hold.

Can I use the K700 AMT tripod for a spotting scope or camera instead of a rifle?

Yes. The kit includes a camera thread adapter, and the standard mount lets you run a spotting scope, binoculars, or a camera when you're not shooting off it. With a 25-pound load rating it has no trouble supporting heavy glass, which makes it a solid do-it-all glassing and filming platform in the field.

How tall does the K700 AMT tripod get, and can I shoot standing?

The three-level leg extensions plus the reversible center column let it reach around 72 inches fully extended, so an off-hand standing shot is very doable. The three-position angle locks also let you spread the legs low for prone or seated positions. That range is really the point of this setup, giving you stable support in positions where a bipod leaves you hanging.

How heavy is the Kopfjager K700 AMT and is it packable?

The tripod itself runs around 5.5 to 6 pounds with the Reaper Grip adding roughly another 2.5 pounds, and it collapses to about 27 inches for transport. It's a heavier-duty rig than a lightweight backpacking tripod, which is the tradeoff for the stability and load capacity you get. For truck-based hunts, blind setups, or shorter hikes to a glassing spot, it packs down and travels well in the included case.
