Some 1911s blend into the case. The Kimber Raptor II is not one of them. Built in the Kimber Custom Shop, this full-size .45 ACP takes its name from the bird-of-prey styling worked into the whole gun: scaled texturing on the frontstrap and slide, feathered-logo zebrawood grips, and aggressive serrations front and rear. The matte black finish with brush-polished flats gives it a look that stands apart without going over the top, and every one of those scale cuts earns its keep when your hands are sweaty or you are running the slide in a hurry.
Underneath the styling is a properly built Government-size 1911. The steel frame and slide bring the weight to 38 ounces with an empty magazine, which soaks up .45 ACP recoil and keeps the muzzle settled between shots. The 5-inch match-grade stainless barrel is fitted with a match-grade stainless bushing, and the aluminum match-grade trigger leaves the factory set around 4 to 5 pounds with the crisp, short break single-action fans expect. A full-length guide rod and 16-pound recoil spring round out the internals, and the 6.8-inch sight radius makes the most of that long slide.
Kimber did not skimp on the practical stuff. Tactical Wedge tritium night sights come standard, so you get a clean fixed sight picture during the day and glowing dots when the light drops. The thumb safety is ambidextrous, which left-handed folks will appreciate, and the bumped and grooved grip safety helps ensure a positive grip engages it every time.

Yes, it ships with Kimber's fixed Tactical Wedge tritium night sights. The tritium vials glow on their own without needing to be charged by light, so you get a usable sight picture in dark conditions. The wedge profile also snags less than taller target-style sights.
More than most 1911s. It comes with an ambidextrous thumb safety from the factory, so lefties can run the safety naturally without swapping parts. The magazine release is still on the standard right-hand side, but that is an easy reach for most left-handed users.
