Built on a double-stack (DS) architecture chambered in 10mm Auto, it delivers 15+1 capacity with the flush-fit magazine or bumps up to 18+1 with the included extended mag. Every single pistol is assembled start to finish by one Kimber technician at their Troy, Alabama facility, with all stainless steel components machined to tight tolerances before final assembly and finish.
The 5-inch matte stainless barrel is crowned and factory compensated, which does real work with 10mm Auto. The comp helps redirect gas upward at the muzzle, reducing rise and helping you get back on target faster than you would with an unported barrel in this caliber. The KimPro Black stainless steel slide is lightening-cut and engraved with a detailed RMEF woodland scene featuring mountain peaks, pine forests, and an elk motif. It's not just decoration either — this is a RMEF partnership build, and Kimber has a long history of collaborating with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation on backcountry-ready firearms.
The slide comes optic-ready out of the box with a TAG RMR-compatible mounting plate and fixed rear sight, so you can drop in a red dot without machining or sending it off to a gunsmith. A 1913 Picatinny rail on the dust cover gives you room for a weapon light or laser. The carbon fiber and glass-filled matrix grip module is proprietary to Kimber — it keeps weight down while still giving you a solid, textured hold. The match-grade trigger and ambidextrous thumb safety are standard, and the beavertail grip safety rounds out a control package that works equally well for left or right-handed users. This is the kind of gun that gets put to work.
The DS stands for double-stack, meaning the grip module is wider to accommodate higher-capacity magazines — you get 15 or 18 rounds of 10mm versus the 8 or 9 rounds you'd see in a traditional single-stack 1911. The platform still uses classic 1911 mechanics including a single-action trigger, thumb safety, and bushing barrel.
