The Iver Johnson Eagle LR is a Government-size, Series 70 1911 chambered in .45 ACP. It's built around a forged 4140 steel slide and cast steel frame, both CNC machined and then hand-fitted to each other individually. That slide-to-frame fit matters more than most people realize on a 1911 — it's a big part of what contributes to consistent accuracy and a solid, tight feel in the hand. The whole package wears a matte blued finish on both frame and slide, giving it a traditional, no-nonsense look.
Iver Johnson loaded the Eagle LR with the kind of upgrades that used to cost extra on a custom build. You get an extended thumb safety and extended slide stop for positive, easy manipulation, a high-sweep beavertail grip safety with a memory bump to ensure full engagement, a skeletonized hammer, and a 3-hole trigger. The ejection port is lowered and flared for reliable case extraction, and the magwell has a slight bevel to speed up reloads. Front and rear angled cocking serrations give you a confident grip when running the slide. There's also a finger relief cut near the trigger guard — a small ergonomic touch that makes a real difference during longer range sessions.
The Eagle LR also features an integral Picatinny rail machined into the dustcover, which opens the door for mounting a light or laser without any extra hardware. The grips are black Dymondwood laminate with a dual texture — part alligator skin pattern, part smooth — which looks good and stays put in your hand. Sights are GI-style fixed, with a dovetail front post and a fixed rear.
The pistol is manufactured in the Philippines by Shooters Arms Manufacturing (S.A.M.), which has produced 1911s for Iver Johnson to their specific specs and designs for years. These are not generic off-the-shelf imports — they are built to Iver Johnson's own tolerances and parts specifications. At 8+1 capacity and around 42 ounces unloaded, it's a full-size all-steel gun with the weight to soak up recoil noticeably. It ships with one 8-round magazine, a hard plastic lockable case, gun lock, and owner's manual. Keep in mind this is a Series 70 pistol, so there is no firing pin block — standard for this style of 1911 build.

The Eagle LR ships with one 8-round single-stack .45 ACP magazine. If you plan to shoot it regularly or want backup magazines on hand, standard-length 1911 .45 ACP magazines from reputable makers will work fine in this pistol.
