The 6.5 Creedmoor earned its reputation by staying supersonic well past 1,000 yards while producing noticeably less recoil than a .308, and the HM Defense Avenger gives that cartridge a proper home. Built in Mount Orab, Ohio by a company that takes its machining seriously, this AR-10 pattern rifle centers on a 20-inch match-grade 4140 chromoly barrel finished in black Cerakote. That barrel length is the sweet spot for the Creedmoor, squeezing out the velocity the cartridge needs to do its best work at distance without turning the rifle into a pole vault.
The 14-inch free-floating 1913 Picatinny rail keeps sling tension and barricade pressure off the barrel, which matters when you're trying to keep groups tight at 600 yards and beyond. The full-length top rail gives you generous real estate for a magnified optic, and there's plenty of room up front for a bipod, night vision, or whatever else your setup calls for. It ships with one 10-round magazine and runs on standard AR-10/SR-25 pattern magazines, which are widely available. Magpul PMAGs in 6.5 Creedmoor or .308 pattern are a common and affordable choice if you want spares.
It's noticeably softer. The 6.5 Creedmoor burns less powder and pushes lighter bullets than a .308, and the weight of a 20-inch AR-10 platform soaks up a lot of what's left. That makes it easier to spot your own hits through the scope and stay on target for follow-up shots.
