The VP9 earned its reputation the hard way, through years of duty use and range time, and the A1 update sharpens just about everything people liked about it. At around 22.6 ounces with a 7.32 inch overall length, it rides comfortably in a holster all day without giving up a usable sight radius or a solid firing grip. The headline improvement is the trigger. H&K gave it a nickel-Teflon coating for a smoother pull and a cleaner break, and it's noticeably better than the original VP9 unit that was already ahead of most striker-fired triggers. The grip got attention too, with interchangeable backstraps and side panels that let you tune the palm swell and reach to fit your hand instead of the other way around. Add in a flared magwell for quicker reloads, refined ambidextrous slide and paddle magazine releases, and front and rear serrations that give you real purchase with wet or gloved hands, and it adds up to a pistol that runs well for lefties, righties, and everyone in between.
This configuration ships with a Holosun SCS optic already installed, mounting low and direct to the slide. The SCS runs on solar power with a built-in rechargeable battery, so there's no battery cap to fuss with and no reason to think about swapping cells before you leave the house. Backing it up is a high-visibility tritium front night sight paired with a clean, serrated black rear, giving you a low-light aiming solution whether you're running the dot or the irons.
