If you've got an older or standard HK that never came cut for an optic, this EGW mount is one of the cleanest ways to run a red dot without sending the slide out for machining. It replaces the factory rear sight by sliding into the existing dovetail, so you get a solid optic platform while keeping the option to go back to irons anytime you want.
This specific plate (MPN 49507) is built for the non-optics-ready HK VP9, VP9SK, VP40, P30, P30L, P30SK, HK45, and HK45C pistols chambered in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. It carries the Trijicon RMR footprint, which also opens the door to a bunch of popular optics like the Holosun 407C and 507C series, the Trijicon SRO, and Swampfox models. That versatility is a big reason folks reach for this one instead of a single-optic plate.
Installation is about as straightforward as it gets. You drift out the factory rear sight, slide the EGW mount into the dovetail, snug the set screw against the bottom of the cut, then bolt your optic down with the included hardware. EGW recommends a drop of blue Loctite on the screws and torquing them to spec. No permanent alterations to the slide, which means resale value and the ability to revert to irons stay intact.
The mount is machined from 7075 aluminum and wears a matte black hardcoat finish, so it shrugs off the recoil and holster wear that comes with regular carry and range time. At 1.780 inches long and 1.1 inches wide, it keeps a low, trim profile on top of the slide. One important note: this is made for the standard, non-optics-ready HK models. If your pistol already came with an optics cut from the factory, you'll want EGW's optics-ready adapter plate instead.
