The MR762 A4 Pistol is what happens when HK takes the commercial descendant of the HK417 and trims it down to fighting size. A 13-inch cold hammer forged barrel made from HK's cannon grade steel sits under a long M-LOK handguard, and a pistol buffer tube replaces the stock, bringing the whole package to 31.4 inches overall and 7.95 pounds empty. That is genuine 7.62x51mm NATO power in something you can move through tight spaces or stow in a truck without a second thought.
Instead of venting hot gas back into the receiver like a direct impingement AR-10, the MR762 A4 runs a short-stroke gas piston that dumps fouling out at the gas block. The action stays cleaner and cooler, parts last longer, and you spend less time scrubbing carbon after a long range day. The two-position gas regulator is marked for normal and suppressed settings, so when you spin a can onto the 5/8×24 concentric threads, tuning the gun is as simple as flipping the setting. The barrel itself carries a 1-in-11 right-hand twist that stabilizes the full range of .308 and 7.62 NATO bullet weights, and HK's cannon grade steel has a well-earned reputation for holding accuracy deep into its service life.
Every control that matters is mirrored on both sides: safety lever, magazine release, bolt catch, plus an extended ambidextrous charging handle with dual claws. Lefties get the same experience righties do, and anyone running support-side drills will appreciate it. Up top, a continuous Picatinny rail spans the receiver and handguard for roughly 23 inches of uninterrupted mounting space, since the gun ships without sights and leaves the optic choice to you. The MR762 A4 uses HK's short-stroke gas piston system, the same basic architecture as the HK417 it descends from. This version ships with one 10-round HK polymer magazine. It runs HK's translucent polymer MR762 pattern magazines, which are also available in 20-round capacity as factory replacements. They are built to the same overbuilt standard as the rest of the gun and hold up well over years of use.
