These are Heckler & Koch's own elevated night sights, made to drop right onto the optic-ready VP9 and VP9SK OR pistols. You get a green tritium front sight paired with a matching green tritium rear, giving you a classic three-dot picture that stays lit around the clock without batteries or charging up in the sun. The self-luminous vials pull their glow from tritium gas, so whether you're at the range at dawn or working a dark hallway, the dots are right there where you need them.
The big draw here is the taller blade height. These sit up at roughly 0.466 inches in front and 0.516 inches in the rear, which lifts your sight line above a mounted optic and lets you run a lower 1/3 co-witness with red dots like the Trijicon RMR. If your dot ever goes dark or the battery quits, your irons are already lined up and ready to finish the job. That extra height also gives you room to shoot over a suppressor without the can blocking your view.
Because these come straight from HK, you don't have to guess about fit. They're cut to factory geometry for the VP9 OR slide, so there's no fudging dimensions or hoping an aftermarket set lines up. The sights are machined from steel with a black finish, which holds up to the pounding of repeated recoil and years of carry and range time.
Swapping sights on the VP9 involves a sight pusher or a punch and a steady hand, and plenty of folks tackle it at home. That said, having a gunsmith press these in is the surest way to get proper alignment and a good zero without risking scratches to the slide. Once they're set, tritium sights like these will glow strong for a decade or more before you'll notice them starting to dim.
These are cut specifically for the optic-ready models, meaning the VP9 OR and VP9SK OR with the factory optic cut. If you have a non-optic VP9, you'll want a set made for that slide instead. When in doubt, check your slide for the milled optic cut before ordering.
Yes. The elevated profile is designed to line up in a lower 1/3 co-witness with red dots like the Trijicon RMR. That means your iron sights sit just below the center of the dot, giving you an instant backup if the optic ever fails or runs out of battery.
Plenty of folks do it at home with a sight pusher tool or a punch and a bit of patience. That said, having a gunsmith handle the install is the safest bet for proper alignment and zero without any risk of marring the slide. If you're not confident working on your pistol, it's worth the trip.
Tritium is self-powered, so it glows continuously without batteries or needing to charge in the light. You can expect a strong glow for roughly 10 to 12 years, after which the brightness slowly fades and replacement is a good idea for peak low-light performance.
