This is the full rifle configuration of Heritage's 92 line, meaning you get a 24 inch octagon barrel with the forend attached by a cross screw instead of a barrel band, the way the classic rifles of the 1890s were built. Chambered in .44 Magnum, this Ranch Hand takes real advantage of that long barrel. The extra velocity you pick up over a handgun turns the .44 into a legitimate short to medium range hunting cartridge, plenty capable on deer and hogs in timber country. The 24 inch barrel squeezes noticeably more velocity out of the .44 Magnum than a revolver does, making it well suited for deer and hogs out to around 100 yards with good hunting loads. The buckhorn sights are quick to pick up in timber, and the 12+1 capacity is more than you will ever need on a hunt.
