Description

Some lever guns blend into the rack. This one does not. The Heritage 92 in .357 Magnum wears a gold PVD finish over its stainless steel receiver, set against a black steel barrel and a fixed hardwood stock. It is a striking take on the classic Model 92 pattern, the same time-tested design that helped define the pistol-caliber carbine, built with modern manufacturing behind it since Heritage joined the Taurus family.

Why the Heritage 92 Earns Its Keep

Beyond the looks, this is a genuinely practical rifle. The 18-inch barrel keeps overall length around 35 inches and weight under six pounds, so it carries easily in a truck, on a four wheeler, or slung over a shoulder all day. The tube magazine holds 8 rounds of .357 Magnum, and the chambering also handles .38 Special, which makes range days cheap and recoil almost nonexistent. Out of a rifle-length barrel, .357 Magnum picks up serious velocity over a revolver, giving you plenty for hogs, coyotes, and deer-sized game at woods distances. Loading is through the side gate, ejection is out the top, and a thumb-operated safety sits on the receiver for simple, positive control.

Sights and Handling on the 92 Carbine

Heritage fits this model with a drift-adjustable front sight and an adjustable buckhorn rear, a setup that is quick to pick up and easy to dial in for your preferred load. The lever throw is short and smooth for a pistol-caliber action, and the 1:30 twist barrel stabilizes common 125 to 158 grain bullets well.

A Gold Heritage 92 for Work or the Wall

Whether you want a sharp-looking companion gun for a .357 revolver, a light ranch rifle that doubles as a plinker, or just a lever action with some personality, this one covers all three. It has the character of an old west carbine with the fit and function of a current production rifle, and that gold receiver guarantees it will not be mistaken for anyone else's gun at the range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Heritage 92 shoot .38 Special as well as .357 Magnum?

Yes. Like most .357 Magnum lever guns, the Heritage 92 also runs .38 Special. That gives you a soft-shooting, budget-friendly option for plinking and practice, while keeping full-power .357 Magnum loads on hand for hunting or ranch duty. Both cycle smoothly through the action.

How do you load the Heritage 92 lever action?

The 92 loads through a side loading gate on the right of the receiver, just like the classic Model 92 pattern it is based on. Rounds feed from an under-barrel tube magazine that holds 8 rounds, and spent cases eject out the top of the receiver. You can top off the magazine anytime without opening the action.

Will the gold finish on this rifle hold up to real use?

The gold color is a PVD coating applied over a stainless steel receiver, not paint or plating. PVD is a hard, thin-film finish known for good wear and corrosion resistance, which is why it shows up on working firearms and not just showpieces. Treat it like any quality firearm finish with basic cleaning and it should stay sharp for years.

Is the Heritage 92 in .357 Magnum enough gun for deer or hogs?

At woods ranges, yes. The 18-inch barrel wrings noticeably more velocity out of .357 Magnum than a revolver does, putting solid energy on target inside 100 yards or so with good hunting loads. It has long been a favorite setup for hogs, coyotes, and deer-sized game where shots stay close.
