Some guns earn their spot in the safe by being practical. The Henry Mare's Leg earns it by being flat-out fun. Modeled after the cut-down lever gun Steve McQueen carried in the old TV Western Wanted: Dead or Alive, this is a pistol you can holster on your hip but run with the speed of a lever action. Henry builds it off their famous H001 .22 rifle, so you get that same slick action and rimfire reliability in a package that turns heads every single time it comes out of the case.
The 12.875 inch round blued steel barrel wears a hooded front sight up front and a fully adjustable rear sight, so dialing it in for plinking or small game work is simple. The receiver has a 3/8 inch groove cut into the top if you'd rather run a scope or red dot with standard rimfire ringmounts. The tube magazine loads the classic Henry way and swallows 10 rounds of .22 LR or 16 rounds of .22 Short, and since it's chambered for Short, Long, and Long Rifle, you can feed it just about any rimfire ammo you find on the shelf. A saddle ring on the left side of the receiver completes the frontier look.
This is where Henry separates itself from the pack. The American walnut stock is handcrafted and shaped to match the profile of the original television gun, and the fit and finish hold up under close inspection. The large loop lever gives your hand plenty of room, gloves included, and the action cycles with that smooth, crisp feel Henry is known for. The trigger breaks clean and the hammer locks up with positive, audible clicks.

Yes. The receiver has a 3/8 inch groove machined into the top, which accepts standard rimfire ringmounts made for grooved receivers. Plenty of owners run a compact scope or micro red dot on these, though the adjustable rear and hooded front sights work great on their own for most plinking distances.
The tubular magazine holds 10 rounds of .22 Long Rifle or up to 16 rounds of .22 Short. Since it's chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle, you can mix and match whatever rimfire ammo you have on hand. Loading is done through the classic Henry tube design with the brass follower.
It's classified as a pistol. Henry builds it as a cut-down version of their H001 lever action rifle, but it leaves the factory configured as a handgun with a pistol-style walnut grip and no shoulder stock. That means it transfers and ships the same way as any other handgun.
