Both sides of the polished nickel receiver carry a detailed American eagle in flight, wings spread against a slightly darkened background that makes the bird pop, all framed by 19th century style scroll work. The original Silver Eagle drew its inspiration from the engraved, silver-plated Henry presented to Navy Secretary Gideon Welles back in the 1860s, and this second edition carries that heritage forward with fresh artwork on the same platform.
Underneath the shine, this is a Golden Boy through and through, which means it runs like a lever gun should. The 20-inch blued octagon barrel wears a target crown and a 1:16 twist, and the tube magazine holds 16 rounds of .22 LR or 21 rounds of .22 Short, with .22 Long in the mix too. The action cycles smooth right out of the box, and there is no magazine to lose or bolt release to fumble. You load through the tube, work the lever, and enjoy. Sights are a brass bead up front and a fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear with a diamond insert, a classic setup that is quick to pick up on squirrels, cans, and paper alike. The receiver is also drilled and tapped, so adding a scope down the road is a simple job.
At 6.75 pounds with a 38.5-inch overall length and a 14-inch length of pull, it balances nicely and fits most adults without feeling like a youth gun. The select American walnut stock and forearm are a step above what you usually see on a rimfire, and the nickel buttplate and barrel band tie the whole bi-tone look together. Made in America by Henry Repeating Arms, this one splits its time between the range, the squirrel woods, and the display rack, and it earns its keep in all three.

Yes. The receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so a rail or scope base bolts right on. That said, the brass bead front and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear are plenty for most plinking and small game work inside 50 yards or so.
It shoots as well as any Golden Boy, because that's exactly what it's built on. The 20-inch octagon barrel has a target crown, the action is smooth, and owners run these hard at the range. Plenty of people buy it as a display piece and end up shooting it more than anything else they own.
The mechanics and dimensions are the same, so the difference is the engraving. The original Silver Eagle recreated the historical Gideon Welles presentation rifle pattern, while the 2nd Edition depicts a lifelike American eagle in flight on both sides of the nickel receiver, surrounded by period-style scrollwork. Henry introduced it in 2016 alongside the Golden Eagle variant.
