Installing the GrovTec Wood Screw Studs

Mounting one is a straightforward drill-and-thread job. Most folks mark the spot on the toe of the buttstock, drill a pilot hole in the neighborhood of 5/32 inch, then run the stud in using a pin punch through the loop as a makeshift wrench. A dab of epoxy in the hole is cheap insurance on wood, since the fibers can compress and loosen over time. Take it slow on the final turns so you do not strip the threads or crack the finish, and stop when the base sits flush.
