This GrovTec buttstock cartridge holder slides right over your rifle stock and gives you six sewn elastic loops to keep your ammo secure and ready. It's the kind of simple, made-in-the-USA accessory that just works, and once it's on you tend to forget it's even there until the moment you need that follow-up shot.
The big difference here versus an open-style carrier is the flap. GrovTec builds it from Cordura nylon and secures it with hook-and-loop, so your rounds stay protected from rain, snow, brush, and trail dust while still being quick to get at. The elastic loops are sewn on with bar-tack reinforced stitching, which is the same detail GrovTec runs across their soft goods out of their Clackamas, Oregon shop. It holds tight without chewing up your brass or fingers.
This holds up to six standard rifle rounds, with the count dropping a bit if you're running larger calibers. GrovTec rates it to fit everything from .223 on up to .450 Bushmaster, with the elastic stretching to roughly half an inch. The sleeve itself measures about 8.45 inches and slips over most standard rifle buttstocks without any hardware or tools. Black finish keeps it low-key on just about any rig.
Hunters like keeping extra cartridges on the gun as well as in it, and this is one of the fastest ways to do that. Slip it over the stock, load your loops, close the flap, and you're set. It's light enough that it won't throw off your carry or your shoulder, and the covered design means you're not losing rounds when you're pushing through cover or climbing into a stand.
It carries up to six standard rifle rounds in sewn elastic loops. If you're running larger calibers, you may fit a few less since the loops stretch to about half an inch. For most common hunting rounds, all six loops fill up just fine.
GrovTec rates it to handle everything from .223 all the way up to .450 Bushmaster. The elastic loops stretch to roughly .500 inches, so most standard rifle cartridges in that range will seat securely. Larger rounds fit but may reduce your total loop count.
No tools required. The holder is a slip-on sleeve that slides right over the buttstock and stays put on its own. You can have it mounted and loaded in under a minute.
The Cordura nylon flap covers your rounds and secures with hook-and-loop, keeping ammo shielded from rain, snow, and trail debris. It also adds a layer of retention so you're not shaking loose a cartridge while moving through brush. When you need a reload, it flips open quickly.
