Anyone who has run a suppressed AR-10 knows the drill: crank off a few rounds and you get a face full of gas every time the action cycles. That's exactly the problem Griffin Armament set out to solve with the Gen 2 SN-ACH 10. This ambidextrous charging handle is engineered to redirect that blowback away from you, so a suppressed range session stays comfortable instead of watery-eyed.
The heart of this thing is its gas management. A forward-facing 60-degree gas vent ejects excess gas out the front and to the side rather than back toward your face when you're running a can. Griffin also added a beveled rear shoulder that captures gas escaping from the rear of the receiver and pushes it forward and outward. On top of that, an improved gas check groove and tighter machining create a better seal between the handle and your upper, which cuts down on leakage at the rear where it tends to sneak past.
The SN-ACH 10 is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and hard coated for wear resistance, which is a real step up from the cheaper 6061 handles that have a habit of cracking under hard use. The bolt carrier engaging hook uses reinforced geometry that Griffin rates at roughly 30 percent stronger than milspec and about three times stronger than budget 6061 designs. Fitment bearing surfaces on the handle keep wobble to a minimum against the upper receiver, so it feels solid and locked in during charging.
Both sides are fully ambidextrous, which lefties and anyone who runs support-side manipulations will appreciate. It ships with the larger lever that plays nice with gloved hands, and Griffin sells smaller levers separately if you'd rather run a lower profile. Swapping levers means you don't have to buy a whole new handle to change the feel. It drops into any Armalite AR10, KAC SR25/M110, DPMS LR308, or other SR-25/AR-10/LR-308 pattern upper.
It's designed for SR-25/AR-10/LR-308 pattern uppers, including Armalite AR10, KAC SR25/M110, and DPMS LR308 rifles. Because upper receiver tolerances vary between manufacturers, fitment on every brand of upper can't be guaranteed, but it covers the vast majority of AR-10 pattern platforms out there. If you know your rifle uses a standard AR-10 charging handle, you're in good shape.
The gas venting features shine brightest when you're shooting suppressed, since that's when blowback gets worst. That said, the reinforced hook, tighter fitment, and true ambidextrous controls make it a solid upgrade even on an unsuppressed rifle. You get a stronger, less wobbly handle either way.
