Glock took its most recognizable pistol and rebuilt the ergonomics from the ground up for the sixth generation, then teamed up with Aimpoint to put a red dot on it before it ever leaves the factory. The COA optic mounts directly to the slide through the new A-CUT interface, so there are no adapter plates, no extra screws to worry about, and no guesswork about which footprint fits. The dot sits low and locks in solid, which is exactly what you want on a pistol that might see duty use, home defense, or a few thousand rounds of weekend practice.
The frame is where you feel the difference. The new RTF6 texture covers more of the grip than previous generations, including a molded thumb rest, and it holds on whether your hands are dry, sweaty, or soaked. A flat-faced trigger gives you consistent finger placement shot after shot, the beavertail is enlarged for a higher hold, and the undercut trigger guard lets you choke up on the gun the way modern shooting technique demands. Deeper slide serrations make racking with an optic-equipped slide easier too. Underneath it all is the same Safe Action system with three independent passive safeties, plus the 4.49 inch Glock Marksman Barrel and matte black nDLC finish that hold up to hard use and ugly weather.
The COA is an enclosed-emitter optic with a crisp 3.5 MOA dot, twelve brightness settings including four that work with night vision, and up to 50,000 hours of run time on a common CR2032 battery. The side-access battery tray means you can swap batteries without pulling the optic or losing zero. Backup iron sights come standard, with a white dot up front and a white outline rear.
With three 17-round magazines in the box and the optic already zeroed-in territory from day one, this is about as complete as a factory pistol package gets. Austrian-made, duty-grade, and set up the way most people were going to build it anyway.
No, and that's a big part of the appeal. The Gen 6 slide is machined with the new A-CUT interface, which lets the COA bolt directly to the slide. That means a lower dot height, a more stable connection, and one less part in the stack that could work loose over time.
The Gen 6 is mostly an ergonomics update.
