There is a reason the 6.5 Creedmoor took over the long-range world, and Great Lakes Firearms built the GL-10 to take full advantage of it. The heart of this rifle is a 20 inch heavy-profile 416R stainless steel barrel with 5R rifling, a 1:8 twist, and a barrel blank that is double thermally stress-relieved and air-gauged before it ever leaves the shop. That is the kind of barrel prep you usually see on rifles costing quite a bit more, and it pays off when you are stretching steel out past 800 yards. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and wears a ported compensator, so swapping to a brake or suppressor is a five-minute job.
Both the upper and lower are machined from 7075 billet aluminum, then Cerakoted in OD Green right at the Great Lakes facility in Sparta, Michigan. This is a family-owned shop that does its own coating work in-house, and the finish quality shows. Around the barrel sits a 15.125 inch 6061 aluminum M-LOK handguard with plenty of real estate for a bipod, sling mount, and whatever else your setup calls for. Up top, the flat rail is ready for the scope this cartridge deserves, since the rifle ships without sights.
The rifle-length gas system with a .750 gas block is the right call on a 20 inch large-frame AR. It softens the recoil impulse noticeably, which matters when you are watching your own impacts through the glass.
