The M16x1 RH pattern is best known as the factory threading on the HK Mark 23, so if you've been wanting to hang a modern .45 can on that big service pistol, this is the part that makes it happen.
The LID, short for Linear Inertial Decoupler, is Gemtech's take on the booster assembly that lets a tilting-barrel pistol cycle reliably with the added weight of a suppressor out front. The rear piston sits at the interface between the host barrel and the LID assembly, so matching the thread pattern to your barrel is everything. Since most factory .45 barrels run .578×28, keeping a metric piston like this one in your range bag means you're never stuck leaving a host at home. It also works on 9mm and .40 caliber pistols wearing the same threads, which stretches the usefulness of a single can even further.
Gemtech built this piston to change out in the field without tools, so moving your suppressor between hosts takes about as long as unscrewing it from one and threading it onto the next. It's also rated for full-auto use, which tells you plenty about the durability baked into a part this small.

M16x1 RH is the factory thread pattern on the HK Mark 23, which is the main host this piston is aimed at. Some aftermarket metric barrels for other pistols use the same pitch, so always confirm your barrel's threading and thread direction before ordering. Note that RH and LH versions are separate parts, so double check which one your barrel needs.

Per Gemtech, the GM-45 family of suppressors and pistons can be run on 9mm and .40 caliber hosts in addition to .45 ACP, as long as the barrel threading matches. You give up a little sound performance versus a dedicated smaller-bore can, but it's a handy way to get more mileage out of one suppressor.
