The Second Best Sling is GBRS Group's take on a two-point sling refined over more than fifteen years of real use, and the SBS name is a bit of an inside joke since plenty of folks who run it end up calling it the best they own. What makes it stand out right out of the package is the weight. GBRS pulled out the bulky metal hardware you find on most slings and got it down to just 2.7 ounces, which is roughly half of what a lot of comparable slings weigh. Less weight, no metal to bang against your handguard and give away your position, and a slider that moves smooth every time.
The bundle version takes the guesswork out of setup. Instead of piecing hardware together yourself, you get the sling paired with a black Triglide and a D-Loop so you can build it out and get running faster.
Adjustability is where this sling earns its keep. The forward lead gives you 40 inches of travel and the tail adds another 20 inches, and both ends can be trimmed and melted down for a truly personalized length. Whether you're running a loaded plate carrier, soft armor, or a slick t-shirt setup, you can tailor it to sit right. The 4-inch pull tab makes quick length changes easy on the move, and if you'd rather have a thumb loop, the two center bar-tacks can be removed to convert it.
The 16-inch minimalist neck pad is built with closed-cell Crosslink padding for cushion without stiffness, wrapped in a four-way stretch Tweave fabric. That material slides friction-free across the back of your kit or around your neck, and the tapered ends keep it from catching on gear when you sling the rifle to your back. It stays comfortable through long days without turning into a bulky, cumbersome strap.
