The Faxon FX7 is a barreled action designed around the idea that you want to build your own rifle, your way. It arrives completely assembled with the barrel already installed, headspace verified, and the bolt ready to go. All you need to do is add a trigger and drop the whole package into your preferred stock or chassis.
The action itself is built from 416-R stainless steel with a 4340 carbon steel bolt featuring Faxon's Flame Fluting. The receiver wears a matte DLC (ArmorLube) coating that provides mil-spec durability and a low-glare finish. The bolt features a smooth 70-degree lift and clean operation thanks to the 6-lug design arranged in two rings of three—a layout that's proven reliable and compatible with Remington 700 short-action triggers, stocks, and magazines.
The barrel is where this kit really shines. You get an 18" Gunner profile barrel in 416-R stainless steel with 5R button rifling, honed and lapped for a smooth bore finish. The 1:10 twist handles common .308 bullet weights from hunting rounds to match ammunition. The barrel comes threaded 5/8×24 for suppressors and muzzle devices, and features a recessed target crown to protect the muzzle and support accuracy. Everything is finished with salt bath nitride (QPQ) for corrosion resistance and reduced fouling.
The integrated 20-MOA Picatinny rail is already in place, and the action is compatible with both AICS and AW magazine patterns, giving you flexibility in your build. This is a Remington 700 short-action footprint, so parts support is broad.
