Description

The double stack 1911 world has a magazine problem. Most 2011-style pistols run proprietary mags that cost a small fortune and can be picky about tuning. Fusion Firearms went a different direction with the XP Pro, building it around Glock 17 pattern magazines you can find at just about any gun counter in the country. Born from a collaboration between Fusion and Ermox, the XP Pro V2 gives you the trigger and controls 1911 fans love, with 17+1 of 9mm on tap and spare mags that won't hurt your wallet.

What the V2 Update Brings to the XP Pro

The second generation isn't just a sticker change. Fusion added a more aggressive aluminum grip with a chainlink texture, a radiused undercut behind the trigger guard for a higher hold, and refreshed checkered machining on both the slide and frame. The rest of the recipe carries over from what made the original work: a 4 inch Commander-length tri-top slide with pro cocking serrations and vent cuts, a Clark/Para ramped bull barrel, a one-piece full-length guide rod, and a durable Tenifer QPQ finish over CNC-machined bar stock. Aside from the magazine catch, which is polycarbonate to mate properly with Glock mags, this is an all-metal pistol through and through.

Optic Ready Out of the Box

The slide wears Novak-compatible combat sights, with the rear mounted on a removable plate that opens up an RMR/SRO footprint. The plate comes included, so you can bolt on a red dot the day it arrives or run irons as long as you like. A checkered front strap, removable magwell, and railed steel frame round out the practical touches.

Where the XP Pro V2 Fits

At roughly 35 ounces of steel, this pistol sits flat and soaks up 9mm recoil, which makes it a natural for range days, matches, and home defense duty. The single action trigger breaks clean and light, and owners consistently report smooth running across a wide mix of bullet weights and magazine brands. If you have been eyeing a 2011-style gun but the usual price of entry gave you pause, this one deserves a hard look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Fusion XP Pro V2 really run standard Glock magazines?

Yes, it feeds from Glock 17 pattern magazines and ships with two 17-rounders in the box. Owners have reported reliable function with factory Glock mags as well as popular aftermarket options like Magpul and KCI, including extended versions. That means spare mags are cheap and available almost anywhere.

What changed between the original XP Pro and the V2?

The V2 adds a more aggressive aluminum grip, a radiused undercut at the trigger guard for a higher grip, and updated checkered machining on the slide and frame. The core setup, including the 4 inch bull barrel, optic ready slide, and Glock magazine compatibility, carries over from the first generation.

Can I mount a red dot on the XP Pro V2?

Yes, the tri-top slide is cut for the RMR/SRO footprint and the mounting plate comes included, so you can install a compatible red dot right out of the box. The rear sight sits on a removable plate, and the fixed Novak-compatible combat sights work great if you prefer to stick with irons.

Is the XP Pro V2 better suited for carry or range use?

At around 35 ounces of all steel and aluminum construction, it leans toward range work, competition, and home defense, where the weight helps flatten out recoil. The 4 inch Commander-length slide keeps it manageable, so it can be carried, but most owners treat it as a range and duty style pistol first.
