The XP Pro came out of a collaboration between Fusion Firearms and Ermox, and the big idea behind it is simple: build a double-stack 1911 that runs on Glock 17 pattern magazines instead of pricey 2011-style mags. That one decision changes the whole ownership experience. Spare mags are everywhere, they cost a fraction of what dedicated double-stack 1911 magazines run, and you may already have a drawer full of them. This chrome version ships with two 10-round magazines, and the classic single-action trigger and thumb safety layout will feel right at home to anyone who has spent time behind a 1911.
Fusion machines the XP Pro from bar stock on CNC equipment rather than using castings, and it shows in the details. The 4-inch slide is tri-topped with pro cocking serrations and front vent cuts, riding over a Clark/Para ramped bull barrel and a one-piece full-length guide rod. The steel frame wears a Tennifer treatment with a hard chrome overcoat for corrosion resistance, set off against black accents for a sharp two-tone look. Aluminum grips with a chainlink texture, a checkered front strap, a removable magwell, and a wide paddle slide stop round out a genuinely well-thought-out feature set. At 35.5 ounces, it has enough heft to keep 9mm recoil feeling soft and flat.
The rear sight sits on a removable plate, so you get usable Novak-style fixed combat sights from day one, and when you are ready to run a red dot, the included RMR plate lets you mount RMR-footprint optics without hunting down extra hardware. That covers a huge range of popular micro dots.
