There is a reason the FX-9 line keeps showing up at the range. Freedom Ordnance took the controls every AR owner already knows, shrunk the receivers down for the 9mm cartridge, and built the whole thing around magazines you probably already own. The FX9P runs standard double-stack Glock-pattern 9mm mags, and it ships with a 31-rounder in the box, so feeding it is cheap and easy. This version wears a Flat Dark Earth finish over billet machined aluminum receivers, with a factory faux suppressor up front that gives it a clean, finished profile without any paperwork.
The receivers are cut from billet aluminum and run more than an inch shorter than a standard AR-15 set, which trims weight and keeps the whole package tight at around 22.5 inches overall and 5.2 pounds. High-wear steel parts like the barrel, bolt, extractor, and feed ramp get a full hard nitride treatment for smooth cycling and corrosion resistance over the long haul. The 8 inch barrel carries a 1:10 twist and 1/2×28 muzzle threads under that faux can, so swapping to a real suppressor or another muzzle device down the road is simple. A free-float M-LOK handguard and full-length Picatinny top rail leave plenty of room for optics, lights, and a hand stop.
This is a simple blowback 9mm, which means it digests a wide range of ammo, from budget 115 grain FMJ for plinking to quality hollow points for home defense duty. The safety selector, mag release, and charging handle all sit where your hands expect them if you have spent any time behind an AR, and the last-round bolt hold open is a nice touch a lot of budget PCC-style pistols skip. The FX9P feeds from standard double-stack Glock-pattern 9mm magazines, and one 31-round mag comes in the box. Factory Glock mags and quality aftermarket versions like ETS and Magpul PMAGs all run in it. That makes spare mags cheap and easy to find, especially if you already own a Glock.
Yes. The faux suppressor threads onto a standard 1/2×28 muzzle, so you can remove it and install a 9mm-rated suppressor or another muzzle device. It is purely cosmetic and adds no sound reduction, just a finished full-length look.
Freedom Ordnance recommends starting with 115 grain FMJ, and the blowback action handles a wide range of loads including many hollow points. Like most blowback 9mm platforms, it tends to be happiest with standard-pressure factory ammo. Give it a few hundred rounds of break-in with FMJ before settling on a defensive load.
Mostly, yes. The controls are AR-15 style, and it accepts AR stocks, buffer tube assemblies, and most free-float rail systems, plus anything that mounts to M-LOK or Picatinny. Keep in mind the receivers are shorter than a standard AR set, and the factory trigger group is tuned for the blowback action, so Freedom Ordnance suggests sticking with it rather than dropping in a lightweight aftermarket trigger.
