There's a lot to like about a 9mm AR pistol that runs on Glock magazines, and Freedom Ordnance leaned into that idea with the FX9 Elite. This is the upgraded version of their proven FX9 platform, and the Elite treatment shows up everywhere you put your hands. The B5 Systems grip and trigger guard feel far better than the mil-spec plastic most factory guns ship with, the Warhammer ambidextrous charging handle works cleanly from either side, and the SB Tactical SBA5 brace comes installed right out of the box. A finger stop up front gives your support hand a solid index point on the short handguard, and Freedom Ordnance caps the 4 inch barrel with their own Elite flash hider.
The Elite series also brings a redesigned M-LOK handguard built around BCM barrel nut and mounting hardware, which keeps everything locked down tight and gives you real estate for a light or hand stop. The upper is optics ready with no sights installed, so plan on adding a red dot. On a gun this size, a compact dot is the natural pairing anyway, and the flat top rail makes mounting one painless. Receivers are aluminum with an anodized finish, and this version wears an olive drab green color that stands out from the usual sea of black.
Feeding from Glock pattern mags is the FX9's best trick. Magazines are cheap, everywhere, and available in all kinds of capacities, and this one ships with a 31 round stick so you can settle in for long strings at the range. The blowback 9mm action is simple and eats a wide diet of ammo, with Freedom Ordnance recommending 115 grain FMJ as a starting point. Controls follow the familiar AR layout, so there's nothing new to learn.
Because the FX9 Elite is built on the AR pattern and made in the USA, the aftermarket is wide open. Swap grips, add accessories, or run it as it sits. Either way, this one comes out of the box further along than most.
The FX9 Elite feeds from Glock-pattern 9mm magazines and ships with one 31-round magazine in the box. That's a big practical advantage since Glock mags are affordable, easy to find, and come in everything from flush-fit sizes to extended sticks and drums.

Stick with jacketed or plated bullets, since bare lead can cause fouling in the system. Standard 115 and 124 grain range ammo is a safe bet for break-in.
