Most large-frame ARs leave the factory needing a trigger swap, a better stock, and a handful of upgrades before they shoot the way you want. The Franklin Armory Praefector-M Milita skips all that. This .308 Win semi-auto comes with a factory custom-tuned trigger, a Magpul PRS stock, and a 20-inch midlength contour barrel already in place, so the work is done before you ever open the case.
The 20-inch 4140 chrome moly barrel wears a salt bath nitride finish inside and out for corrosion resistance and long service life, and the 1:10 twist stabilizes the full range of common .308 bullet weights. Franklin Armory pairs it with a midlength direct impingement gas system, which smooths out the recoil impulse and keeps this big-bore AR pleasant to run through long range sessions. Up front, the threaded muzzle carries a Triumvir muzzle device, and the FST 14-inch M-LOK handguard gives you plenty of room for a bipod, light, or whatever else your setup calls for.
The Militia upper and lower are machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and finished in Type III hardcoat anodizing, with a forward assist and dust cover on the upper. The platform follows the DPMS large-frame pattern, so magazines and common aftermarket parts are easy to come by. Magpul MBUS front and rear sights come installed, meaning you can zero and shoot the day you bring it home, then add glass when you're ready.
The Magpul PRS stock is the centerpiece here for precision work. Comb height and length of pull both dial in to fit your build and your optic height, and the Ergo ambidextrous grip fills the hand nicely whether you shoot right or left handed. Sling mounting points are built in, and the whole rifle ships in a lockable case with a Magpul PMAG. For a do-it-all .308 that can ring steel way out there and still handle general range duty, this one earns its spot in the safe.
It ships with a Magpul PMAG and runs on the DPMS large-frame pattern, which is the most common standard for .308 ARs. That means spare mags are affordable and easy to find just about anywhere. Stick with quality PMAGs or similar DPMS-pattern mags for the best reliability.

Yes. The MBUS sights fold flat on the rail, so they stay out of the way of a scope and pop up as backups if you need them. The adjustable comb on the PRS stock also makes it easy to get a proper cheek weld behind a magnified optic.
A midlength gas system gives the action a slightly longer dwell time, which softens the recoil impulse compared to shorter setups. In a .308 AR, that translates to a smoother-cycling rifle that's easier to stay on target with during follow-up shots. It also tends to be gentler on internal parts over the long haul.
