There are semi-auto shotguns, and then there is the Origin-12. FosTech built this thing around an AK-style action that cycles about as fast as anything on the market, feeds from detachable box and drum magazines, and shrugs off round counts that would leave most autoloaders begging for a cleaning. This Gen 2 version in black with hard nickel coated internals takes everything people liked about the original and tightens it up with billet-machined upgrades where they count.
The headline feature is the infinite gas system, which lets the gun digest a wide spread of 2-3/4 inch 12 gauge loads without the fussiness some mag-fed semi-autos are known for. Dial it in for your ammo and it just runs. The Gen 2 refresh adds a billet-machined carrier, a billet ambidextrous safety, and a billet trigger guard, so the controls feel cleaner and the action holds up to hard use. The quick-change barrel system is another standout. Pull a pin and the 18.5 inch fluted barrel assembly, complete with gas block and modular handguard, comes off as one unit, which makes deep cleaning and configuration swaps genuinely simple.
The flat-top dust cover wears a full-length Picatinny rail for red dots or magnified glass, and the handguard gives you rail space up top, underneath, and on the sides for lights and accessories. The muzzle is threaded M22 x .75-6G, so it is ready for muzzle devices or a shotgun suppressor with the right adapter. The side-folding, collapsible stock brings overall length down to 29.75 inches folded for easier transport and storage, extending to 40 inches when you shoulder it for real work.
Each shotgun comes with a 5-round magazine and a hard case. When you are ready to step things up, higher capacity mags along with 20 and 30-round drums are available separately, which is where this platform really shows off. Range days, defensive setups, or just the pure fun of running a fast 12 gauge, the Origin-12 Gen 2 covers it.
It is chambered for 2-3/4 inch 12 gauge shells only, so no 3 inch magnums. The upside is the infinite gas system, which can be tuned to reliably cycle a wide variety of loads from buckshot and slugs to lighter fare. Like any gas-adjustable semi-auto, spend a little time finding the right setting for your preferred ammo and it will reward you.
Yes. The shotgun ships with one 5-round box magazine, and FosTech offers larger box mags plus 20-round and 30-round drums sold separately. The drum-fed setup is a big part of what makes this platform so much fun at the range.
The barrel is threaded M22 x .75-6G, the same pattern used on Saiga shotguns. That means it works with shotgun suppressors like the SilencerCo Salvo when paired with the appropriate Saiga-style adapter. It also accepts other muzzle devices cut for that thread pitch.
The entire barrel assembly, including the gas block and modular handguard, comes off the receiver as one unit with the pull of a pin. That makes thorough cleaning easy and lets you swap between barrel configurations without tools. It is one of the more clever features FosTech built into this platform.
