The 10mm Auto is a fantastic cartridge right up until the muzzle starts climbing on you. That is exactly the problem FN set out to solve with the 510 MRD Comp. This full-size striker-fired pistol wears FN's auto-indexing quick-connect compensator on the end of its 4.43 inch cold hammer-forged barrel, redirecting gases upward to knock a serious chunk out of the muzzle rise. The result is a 10mm that gets back on target faster than it has any right to, which matters whether you are running drills at the range or carrying it as a woods gun in bear country.
The MRD slide uses FN's Low-Profile Optics Mounting System, so most popular micro red dots bolt on directly without stacking adapter plates sky high. Night sights come standard, giving you a dependable aiming solution around the clock and a backup if your dot ever goes down. Deep front and rear slide serrations make press checks and racking easy even with the added spring weight a 10mm demands, and the black PVD finish over the stainless slide shrugs off wear and weather.
The polymer frame carries over the ergonomics that made the 509 series a favorite, with aggressive grip texturing, interchangeable backstraps to dial in the fit, and fully ambidextrous slide stop and magazine release. An integrated Picatinny rail up front handles your light or laser. At roughly 31 ounces, it has enough heft to soak up recoil without feeling like a boat anchor on your hip.
FN ships this one ready to work, with two 15-round nickel-plated steel magazines, the optics mounting plate kit, extra backstraps, and a case. For hog hunters, backcountry hikers, or anyone who wants full-power 10mm without the punishing follow-up shots, this pistol makes a strong case for itself straight out of the box.
Quite a bit. FN's quick-connect compensator vents gases upward and cuts muzzle rise by roughly a third compared to an uncompensated barrel. You still feel that the 10mm is a full-power cartridge, but the sights settle back on target noticeably faster, which makes rapid follow-up shots far more manageable.
The slide uses FN's Low-Profile Optics Mounting System, which supports most popular micro red dot footprints through the included plate kit. That covers common optics like the Trijicon RMR, Holosun 407C and 507C, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and similar sights. The dot sits low enough to work well with the factory night sights.
Yes, it ships with two 15-round magazines. They are nickel-plated steel with polymer base plates, and the pistol is also compatible with FN's extended 22-round 510 series magazines if you want more capacity on hand.
